There are tons of website value calculators out there on the web and none of them are special to me – just taking into account of basic features such as technorati authority rank, alexa rank, Google Pagerank, number of backlinks from major search engines, website history and many more. Some of these estimators include WebsiteValueCalculator, YourWebsiteValue and Dane Carloson’s project using Technorati API.

You might have heard one of them before but there is one new start-up called Stimator which really impressed me at first look especially its wonderful interface. Touted as a “A Real-Time Website Value Estimator”, this free tool enables you to find out how much your website is worth by grabbing data from multiple sources such as the stock market taken from Yahoo Finance (I don’t think any developer have implemented this great idea).

Most of you might have heard of iStock which features a large collection of stock photography. Of course, you would have to pay for them if you want the watermark to be removed. It doesn’t comes cheap – prices range from $1 to $27. If you don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket to get these images, then I would suggest you to try out a website called Photl.

It provides exclusive high resolution images and was touted as the “the owner and distributor of the largest collection of exclusive free photos”. You might wonder if it’s illegal to download these photos but as the founder explains on the site “All the photo images are subject to extended license on usage (Extended Royalty Free). They are absolutely free and are intended to be used in commercial activity.”

Comes in eight different languages, Photl enables you to search for stock photos which are taken by professional photographers. Users can filter their search by selecting the colors they particularly want and sort the results by number of downloads and date of download. This free service only limits up to 45MB but I bet you’ll hit the target easily as the photos there have large sizes. You can select three different sizes before you download (small – 1280X1024, medium – 1920X1440 and large – 4368X2912).

Photl also makes you search experience a better one by showing you the related keywords to your search. This allows you to browse similar images.

We have always been astonished by the fascinating products of technology that have made it possible for us to play music wherever and whenever we want it. Because of modern technology, we were able to have portable music players. We have MP3 and MP4 players, ipod, cellular phones with music players and many more. It catered to serve our need for music, as we believe that music adds color in our life. But did you know that there is actually a new trend in sound technology today that involves the computer and the internet? If you haven’t heard of it yet, then this is the perfect time for you to learn about it and see how fun could this be. Have you ever heard of audio books? Well, you can easily guess its meaning based on its name and yes, it is literally an audio book. It is an audio file that you can listen to over the internet. Now, you might ask, what is special about it when in fact you can already listen to various sounds over the internet.

What makes this special is that you can listen to more than just songs. If you want to listen to the entire plays of William Shakespeare or other famous writers, Netflix for Books might just be the thing that you need. It can provide you with audio books that contain the entire script of the play. That way, it will be easier for you to understand the play because you can listen to it over and over again. With this new trend in sound technology, I am sure that things regarding studies of literature will be a lot easier as compared before.

Man’s progress in whatever areas in life occurs in an amazing speed so much so that one can fairly comment that man has improved a lot. Technology, for one, has attained considerable development that it is inconceivable that what man enjoys today is considered impossibilities just yesterday. The technological advances that have occurred since the 1980s are awesome and have radically altered our daily lives. The innovations made possible by the computer microchip, fiber optics and satellite communication are already at work in millions of households all over the world. We are all touched by the new technologies.

Have you been to Yahoo! Here’s a Great Tour inside the Yahoo! campus

One of the inevitable academic tasks which students have to accept as part of their scholastic life is writing papers required of by the various subjects offered in school. More often than not, most teachers and college professors require their students to submit essays, courseworks, term papers, thesis and other forms of academic papers in partial completion of the requirements of a given course or degree. In some instances, students are given writing assignments or routine writing activities as a means of monitoring their progress in a given subject. Hence, students spend most of their time in the library or in front of their computers researching for relevant materials for their work. Some of them spend extra time sacrificing some of their important personal activities in order to beat the deadline given by their teachers or instructors.

Nouveau Riche: What It Takes to be One

Written by admin on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 in Business, Direct Post, Education, Services.

We all dream of acquiring a decent home for our children, a good education for them, a luxurious car, and a stable business or source of income. We all aspire the good things in life, hoping that one day we will be able to transcend our lowly station and climb up the stairs of the very elusive path known as success.

Success is something that you should search for, something that you should seek and chase as though you are searching for gold in the midst of a desert. Did I say searching gold in the midst of a desert? Yeah, that’s how one chases success. Elusive as it may be, it is not impossible. Everybody can achieve his goals in life and be counted among the successful fellows today. No wonder, we have in our society individuals who were able to surpass the limitations imposed upon by the circumstances and go beyond. They are called the Nouveau Riche of this contemporary generation.

Soon! To Make Computers Based on the Human Brain

Written by admin on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 in Computers, Education, Tech News, Technology.

When Lloyd Watts was growing up in Kingston, Ont., in the 1970s he had a knack for listening to songs by Billy Joel and Elton John and plunking out the melodies on the family piano. But he wondered, wouldn’t it be great to have a machine that could “listen” to songs and immediately transcribe them into musical notation? Watts never built the gizmo, but his decades-long quest to engineer such a machine has finally resulted in one of the first commercial technologies based on the biology of the brain.

Microchips designed by Audience, the Silicon Valley company Watts launched, are now being used by mobile handset makers in Asia to improve dramatically the quality of conversations in noisy places. Even a truck passing right by someone using the technology won’t be heard at the other end of the phone line. The chip is modeled on functions of the inner ear and part of the cerebral cortex. “We have reverse-engineered this piece of the brain,” declares Watts.

Learn and Earn at Nouveau Riche University

Ideas and action must go together. An idea which is not applied remains dormant. A person full of ideas but does not know how to apply them in the real world is like a tree full of leaves but without fruits. Action is the proper consummation of knowledge. Knowledge remains inactive and is inclined to stagnate when not applied. At the end, a person of mere idea but without action is like a scum of the earth.
